A role that slipped away
Vanessa Paradis turned down Calvin Klein's offer to be the face of his new campaign with Mark Wahlberg in 1991, a decision that led the brand to cast Kate Moss instead and made her famous.
First role
Paradis recorded her first single, "La Magie des surprises-parties", in 1983, then sang it at an Italian festival in 1985. Though it was not a hit, it led to "Joe le taxi", the song that made her famous worldwide.
Beyond film
Paradis sang "Le Tourbillon" in a duet with Jeanne Moreau at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival as a tribute to Moreau, a moment that became notable in French popular culture.
