Plot summary
Eighteen segments, each about five minutes long, are set in the arrondissements of Paris. A driver in Montmartre crams his car into a spot that looks too small, then watches couples pass before a woman faints beside his vehicle. Along the Seine, François and his friends call out to passing women until Zarka tells them that shouting will not win them any girls and hurries to the mosque. Gaspard chats with Elie at a printing shop. In a metro station, an American tourist reads a guidebook that warns him against eye contact with locals. Ana leaves her baby at a daycare, then travels across the city and sings the same lullaby to her employer's child. Suzanne sits crying in a room filled with cowboy toys and posters, and her husband comes to console her.

- Paris, je t'aime was the first feature film in Europe to be fully scanned in 6K and mastered in 4K rather than the usual 2K; encoding the image at Laboratoires Éclair took about 24 hours per reel.
- Director Julio Medem was attached to the project for a long time and was to direct a segment starring Javier Bardem and Maria Valverde, but it fell through because of scheduling conflicts with his film Caótica Ana (2007).
- Twenty short films, one for each arrondissement of Paris, were originally planned, but two were cut from the finished film — Christoffer Boe's 15th arrondissement segment and Raphaël Nadjari's 11th — because they could not be properly integrated.
- The film's success set off a run of similarly structured city anthology films, beginning with New York, I Love You in 2009 and continuing with Tbilisi, I Love You and Rio, I Love You in 2014 and Berlin, I Love You in 2019.
