Plot summary
Angèle works at the Vénus beauté salon in Paris, run by Nadine, alongside Samantha and Marie. Past forty and orphaned as a child, she has stopped believing in love: she picks up men for short affairs and sometimes calls Jacques, an old boyfriend, when loneliness gets the better of her. Antoine, a younger sculptor, sees a man dismiss her after a tryst and falls for her, waiting outside the shop and declaring himself, though he has a fiancée. Marie, the youngest of the staff, has an aging widowed client who asks her to his house, and Angèle fears the girl is too trusting. Samantha talks of little but her many dates.
