Plot summary
Julia Sandburg's three-year-old daughter went missing fifteen years ago, and the loss has stayed with her since. She has cut herself off from people who were once close, among them Doug, her husband, and Chris, her son, who each tried for years to get through to her. Louise is a young woman with a troubled past, and when she enters Julia's life, Julia's old wounds come back to the surface. With them comes a hope Julia cannot justify by any logic: that Louise might be the daughter she lost. Nothing supports the idea, and it keeps growing in Julia anyway.
