Plot summary
Zeus is a Labrador Retriever who served as a police dog. His barking ruins a five-year investigation, and the officer he worked with cannot shoot straight, so Zeus loses his bark and ends up at the pound. George Bannister adopts him as an early Christmas present and a guard dog for the family home, but his wife Belinda is hesitant and did not want a dog in the house. On Christmas Eve the Bannisters leave for Grandma Bannister's, and Zeus stays behind alone when two burglars, Ted Stein and Stewey McMann, break in to rob the place. Zeus rigs booby traps to stop them.
