Plot summary
Madison lives with her son Jacob and her daughter in a suburban home, and her money problems have her thinking about bankruptcy. Jacob was in a fight six months earlier and now talks to a counselor. Madison is dating Nikolai, who tutors Jacob in science. The family is troubled by apparitions, a bound, bloody figure and a bald man. Madison pays parapsychologists and psychics to look into it, and none of them can do anything. An offer arrives for the house from someone tied to a research lab, CamSET, which wants to develop the area. One night the bald figure goes after the children, and the family tries to flee, but the children fall gravely ill the instant they step outside. Madison decides they must stay in the house until she finds a solution.
