Plot summary
James Jackson Dial, a retired CIA hitman, lives in seclusion on his Montana ranch. Years earlier, the terrorist Ali Mahmoud Jahar escaped him. Dial's former employer, Jeremy Collins, now offers him another chance to finish that job. Jahar is in police custody in London, so Dial travels there. Disguised as a priest, he waits in a church bell tower across from the building where Jahar is being brought in. A jacket covers Jahar's head, so Dial has no clean shot, and he waits, unwilling to fail again.
