Plot summary
Paul sells cars at a Nissan dealership and has had enough of his life. His wife has gone, and his mother Ruth and his brother, a Buddhist monk, keep telling him where he falls short. He has tried to end his own life more than once, and something always interrupts him: a coworker from the lot, a ringing phone. Three Arhuaco shamans arrive from Colombia with Marissa, a translator who speaks for them. The shamans hold that he is the only creature alive who can keep the world from destroying itself, and they have come to tell him so. Paul himself has no idea what they mean.
