Wini Shaw

Wini Shaw was an American actress, dancer and singer, born in San Francisco, who began her career as a youngster in the vaudeville act run by her parents and later appeared in Warner Brothers musicals of the 1930s. She introduced Lullaby of Broadway in Gold Diggers of 1935 (1935), the number for which she became best known. Her only recording, made with Dick Jurgens and His Orchestra, paired that song with I'm Goin' Shoppin' with You. She performed The Lady in Red in In Caliente (1935), a musical headlined by Dolores del Río. In 1937 she sang Too Marvelous for Words in a live soundstage duet with a reciting Ross Alexander, a number that closed Ready, Willing, and Able. She also appeared in a brief Broadway revival of Simple Simon. During World War II she performed for the USO, visiting military camps and Red Cross clubs and at times joining tours organized by Jack Benny or Larry Adler.
