Plot summary
Alfie Wickers teaches Class K and wants to take them abroad after their GCSEs. The parent-teacher association questions whether his plan has any educational value and calls for him to be dismissed. Martin Wickers, the deputy head, headteacher Shaquille Fraser and Rosie Gulliver, a teacher and Alfie's girlfriend, ask that he keep his job. When the parents inspect his classroom they refuse to fund the Las Vegas trip, and after checking what it would cost him, Alfie chooses Cornwall instead. Joe worries that his mother will not allow him to go, so Alfie draws up an itinerary of educational stops to convince the parents. Susan, Joe's mother, decides to come along and makes the group follow it.
