Plot summary
William, a man in his fifties, and Brooklyn, a six-year-old girl, flee an unseen evil and shelter in an abandoned building, where Brooklyn tells stories to distract him. In the first, slumlord David Burr wants the Ruby Gates apartments demolished for condos, but Paul and Staci Bradford refuse to move while their son Ethan is treated for cancer nearby, and Burr's boss Joe threatens to sue him for fraud. In the second, Denton Wilbury broadcasts white supremacist rants from an isolated bunker and threatens the people gathered outside. In the third, backup singer Chela Simpson is fired from E-Lips's session, and the agent Park places her as a caregiver to the wealthy former opera singer Marie Benoit. In the fourth, Percy Woodhouse, the Punch and Run Bandit, assaults and robs his victims; his latest target is a voodoo practitioner.
