Plot summary
Pike is a reformed criminal who rides as the right-hand man of Bob Morgan, a cattle rancher. When Morgan dies, Pike is given the job of taking $86,000 in payroll money to Sonora, Mexico. He takes on Tyree, a gambler, as a partner, and the two men must trust each other as they cross hundreds of miles of desert. Word of the money travels: outlaws and gunmen ride after them, among them the ruthless bounty hunter Kiefer and the corrupt sheriff Kane. On the trail the pair meets Catherine, a prostitute who needs rescuing, and her companion Kashtok, a mute Indian scout who is skilled in martial arts.
