Plot summary
Two best friends from Hebrew school, Carrie Lowstein and Hannah Rosen, attend the funeral of a classmate who died by suicide. Both are high schoolers. A school counselor distributes handouts about how Jewish tradition handles grief, and notes travel between the students during the memorial service. Carrie and Hannah kiss, and Carrie begins to think about Hannah in a way she has not before. Through the day the mourning gives way to a passage of self-discovery and sexual awakening, and animation and claymation sequences illustrate the inner lives of the two girls. The movie is shot mostly in a square aspect ratio.
