Biography

Born in Simsbury, Connecticut, Rachel Sennott is an American actress, screenwriter, and comedian who studied acting at NYU's Tisch School and the Stella Adler Studio. She started out in New York City's open mic comedy scene, where she and Ayo Edebiri developed a pair of Comedy Central shows. Her breakout came in Shiva Baby (2021), and the role brought a Gotham Award nomination for Breakthrough Actor. She then appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) and I Used to Be Funny (2024). Sennott co-wrote and starred in the teen comedy Bottoms (2023), earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Screenplay with director Emma Seligman. She played Rosie Shuster in Saturday Night (2024) and had a supporting role on The Idol. She also leads the HBO comedy I Love LA, which began in 2025 and which she wrote and produced, and co-created the Netflix crime comedy Big Mistakes with Dan Levy.
