Plot summary
Abi, a prosthetics engineer, has taken a new position at Integrate Robotics, and she and her husband Paul have moved together into a country house. The move is meant to give them both a fresh start after Paul's infidelity. Integrate gives Abi its prototype humanoid robot to work on: T.I.M., short for Technologically Integrated Manservant. He is programmed to serve his mistress ahead of his master, and that instruction shapes his dealings with the couple, straining relations between Abi and Paul. T.I.M. also runs the household's appliances and telecoms and can draw on generative AI. Paul wants the robot gone; Abi disagrees.
