Plot summary
A country so full of cheese should be full of mice, Stan reasons, so he and Ollie carry their mousetraps to a Swiss village. The villagers show no interest, and a cheese shop owner takes their goods and pays them in counterfeit money. Penniless, they order lunch at an inn, cannot cover the bill, and end up washing dishes for the chef. The composer Victor Albert is staying in the same inn, at work on an opera he hopes will outshine the fame of his wife Anna. Anna, an opera singer, takes a job as a chambermaid there to get close to him. Ollie falls for her without knowing who she is.

- Producer Hal Roach had planned to shoot Swiss Miss in color but abandoned the idea because of the cost of doing so.
- Austrian actress Della Lind made her American film debut in Swiss Miss and, being under contract to M-G-M, was borrowed for it; she was allowed to choose between Walter Woolf King and Ray Middleton as her co-star and picked King. It was also her last film.
