Plot summary
Ollie is a young Pookoo, one of a sloth-like species that lives in a flooded valley of animal-plant hybrids. He is curious about the other creatures, though his parents and grandmother warn him to keep away. His grandmother recalls a time when magic pods from the Dzo let the valley's species change their forms, until a Treewolf stole a pod and a forest fire flooded the valley. At a harvest celebration Ollie meets a Javan chick and shows her how to find food on the island.
