Plot summary
The Dukes of Bournemouth believe a curse has followed the family through history, and the latest disaster cost them their heir: Thomas Henry Butterfly Rainbow Peace, left in a restaurant as a baby in the 1960s and gone by the time his parents remembered him. Three decades on, Tommy Patel has grown up in an Indian family in Southall, taller and fairer than anyone else in the house, and commutes to the City to work for the Bournemouth family's stockbroking firm. The firm asks him to host its visiting American representative, Henry Bullock, whose father heads the business. The two men become friends.
