William Franklyn

William Franklyn was an English actor known for voicing the Schweppes Schhh... You Know Who commercials from 1965 to 1973. He also worked across stage, film, television and radio. Born in Kensington into an acting family, he began stage work at 18 in My Sister Eileen in 1943 and later toured in repertory. His films included Quatermass 2 in 1957, Pit of Darkness in 1961, and The Intelligence Men in 1965. On stage he appeared in West End comedies including Tunnel of Love and There's a Girl in My Soup, and he directed an Italian version of There's a Girl in My Soup. On television he took the role of Jacques Fleury in The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel and played Peter Dallas in Top Secret. On radio he played Sexton Blake on BBC Radio 4 in 1967 and took over as narrator for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series.
