Plot summary
On Earth-65, Gwen Stacy wears the mask as Spider-Woman, and the police in her city want her arrested, with her father George, a captain, leading the search without knowing who is under it. On Earth-1610, sixteen months after the Alchemax collider was destroyed, Miles Morales is trying to keep his Spider-Man duties from taking over the rest of his life, and his parents ground him when he is late to a party for his father Jeff's promotion to captain. A scientist named Johnathon Ohnn, his body infused with portals by the collider's destruction, blames Miles for what he has become. Gwen crosses into Miles's dimension and they reconnect; when she follows Ohnn through a portal, Miles goes after her.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Lego universe sequence in the film was animated by 14-year-old Canadian animator Preston Mutanga, who was recruited late in production after the filmmakers saw his fan-made Lego recreation of the film's first teaser and tracked him down.
- Across the Spider-Verse was withdrawn from cinemas across the MENA region because the film briefly shows transgender iconography, including a banner in Gwen Stacy's bedroom reading "Protect Trans Kids".
- The Spot was not originally the film's main antagonist: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller dismissed producer Avi Arad's suggestion of the character at first, and only changed their minds after discussing the potential of his portal powers.
- Tom Holland revealed that producer Amy Pascal approached him about appearing in the Spider-Verse films while he was shooting Spider-Man: No Way Home, and a report claimed his planned live-action sequence delayed Across the Spider-Verse from 2022 to 2023; he ultimately did not appear.
- Spider-Punk's collage animation style, inspired by 1970s punk-rock album covers and Xerox prints, took two to three years to develop; his body is animated on 3s or 2s (8 or 12 images) and his guitar on 4s (6 images), unlike most characters.
- After release, a TikTok meme turned the film's notion of "canon events" into slang for ironic, painful life experiences, and Collins Dictionary put "canon event" among ten contenders for its 2023 Word of the Year.
- After complaints about sound mixing, Sony sent theaters an updated version of the film, and at least two versions with slight differences in dialogue and animation exist, in one, a Miguel and Lyla scene ends with a fist bump, in another with a selfie.
