Plot summary
Sonic lives with the Wachowskis in Green Hills, where he tries to act as a vigilante hero and mostly causes trouble with his recklessness. Tom tells him to be patient, and then he and Maddie fly to Hawaii for her sister Rachel's wedding, leaving Sonic alone in the house. Dr. Robotnik, back from the mushroom planet he was banished to, arrives that night with Knuckles, an echidna warrior serving as his henchman. Knuckles wants the Master Emerald, an ancient relic that grants ultimate power, to honor his ancestors. Tails, a young two-tailed fox who admires Sonic, rescues him and warns him about Knuckles. Sonic talks Tails into searching for the emerald with him, following a map from his late guardian Longclaw, while Robotnik rejoins Agent Stone and allies with Knuckles.
