Plot summary
David Cho is an eighteen-year-old living in Koreatown, Los Angeles, with his Korean immigrant parents, Jin and Soyoung. After they sell their restaurant, David loses his job there, and his parents spend scarce money on SAT prep to improve his college chances. Soyoung works as a waitress while Jin struggles to find steady work and drinks. To help support the family without admitting his own struggles, David secretly begins working at a Korean all-male spa. During a visit there with his friend Eddie, David catches himself staring at Eddie's body in the sauna and brushes it off. At the spa, he becomes aware of a hidden gay cruising scene, which places his family obligations and his growing desires in tension.

- After failing to land a first investor for a planned June 2014 shoot, Andrew Ahn and his producers opened a Kickstarter campaign in October 2014, hit their US$62,000 goal, and then received an extra US$35,000 from investors who saw the goal reached.
- Andrew Ahn's early draft of the script ran only thirty pages and was set mainly in a spa; he added Korean culture, Koreatown and the character's family to develop the intersection of gay and Korean identity and keep sexuality from being the film's only theme.
