Plot summary
John O'Leary is a boy growing up in St. Louis. An accident leaves him badly burned, and he holds to the aim of living and of showing everyone what is possible. His parents, Denny and Susan, and his sisters Beth, Amy and Grace stay near him. At the hospital, nurses Roy and Colleen and Dr. Ayvazian see to his care. Jack Buck, the idol he has followed for years, is among those whose kindness reaches the boy, and the city of St. Louis is behind him.

- Soul on Fire could be made during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike because the filmmakers were granted an interim agreement, and Macy, Corbett and Courtney were cast in October 2023.
- Modern-day scenes were shot at New Busch Stadium, and for older scenes the film used special effects to recreate the circular Busch Memorial Stadium, which had been demolished in 2005.
