Somewhere in Queens (2022) on Netflix

Plot summary

Leo Russo works for Russo's Construction, the family firm in Queens run by his traditional-minded father, Pops. He and Angela, his high school sweetheart, live with their 18-year-old son, Matthew, known as Sticks, among Leo's overbearing Italian-American relatives. Angela had treatment for breast cancer five years ago and will not attend the group therapy her doctor suggests. Sticks is reserved but a strong player on his high school basketball team, and he practices with Leo, who quotes Rocky. At the final game of his preliminary tournament, a college talent scout takes note of him and offers to set up a visit to a small college, where a scholarship to play could follow. Leo accepts quickly. Sticks also introduces his first girlfriend, Dani, who attends a nearby high school and waits tables to save for a car.
