Plot summary
Max Youngman and his best friend Sal both fall for Lyla, and Max marries her. Their lives unspool over thirty-five years, through weddings, funerals, hospitals, eateries, divorce courts and a tool shed, while Max and the people closest to him never seem to age. Around them, relationships form and break in comically misguided ways, and animated vignettes thread the decades together.
