1. A change of course

   As a teenager, Page became interested in magic and illusion. He took the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians Stage Competition in 1978, and the next year the International Brotherhood of Magicians picked him as its top teenage stage magician.

2. A first

   In high school, Page took part in speech and debate tournaments. He was the first to win the National Forensics League's Speaker of the Year national championship title twice, in 1979 and 1980.

3. Behind the camera

   Patrick Page wrote Swansong, which opened in 2004 at the Lucille Lortel White Barn Theatre in Norwalk, Connecticut. The American Theatre Critics Association put it among the year's top ten plays, and it went on to the Kennedy Center and off-Broadway.

4. Own stunts

   Page returned to the part of Hades on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre in March 2019, earning a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. As Hades, he sings down to a G1, one of the lowest notes a piano can play.
