Plot summary
Rose has spent fifty years at a lake house in the Missouri Ozarks, and her days there are built around fishing and the memories the place holds. Her daughter Patty worries about her living alone and wants her to sell, but Rose will not give up the house. One weekend Patty and her daughter Allison come to stay. A long-forgotten roll of film turns up in the house, and it carries Rose back to the summer of 1960, when she meets Louise and falls in love with her. That summer also brings Zee into the lives of Rose and Joe Muller.
