Plot summary
Santa's son Nick is next in line for the job, but he must have a Mrs. Claus before Christmas Eve. Nick had planned to let fate bring him a wife, but the deadline changes that. Ernst, who has served several generations of Santas, prepares a list of possible wives and Nick follows it to Los Angeles. There, Beth Sawtelle works as an advertising executive and raises her son Jake alone. Her current campaign needs a Santa, and she keeps telling Jake that fantasies are not real. Jake writes to Santa asking for a new father. The letter reaches the North Pole, and Nick turns his attention to Beth.
