Plot summary

Freeport, in the year 2027, is a city near governmental collapse after the creation of private industry security. Crime and graft spread through it, and the elite strike force HARDCORPS is the one barrier left, led by Colonel John Blade, a cop whose body is part cybernetic. Blade takes on a rash of mysterious kidnappings, and the case carries him into the city's underworld. It also brings him across Elexis Sinclaire, a brilliant biochemist whose company, SinTEK, makes a drug called U4. She is working toward a plan of her own for the city and its people, and she will stop at nothing to carry it out.
