Sin Takes a Holiday (1930) on Netflix

Plot summary

Gaylord Stanton is a wealthy New York divorce lawyer who dates married women and has no plans to marry. Sylvia Brenner, his plain secretary, shares an apartment with two other women and is secretly in love with him. When Grace Lawrence, the married woman he is seeing, decides to leave her husband for him, Gaylord proposes a business arrangement to Sylvia: money and a year of comfort in exchange for a marriage in name only, so that Grace believes he is already taken. Sylvia agrees to his terms, among them that the marriage stays chaste, and after the ceremony she is sent to Paris. There she begins a makeover with her allowance and meets Reggie Durant, an old friend of Gaylord's who does not recognize her at first.
