Constance Bennett
Biography
Constance Bennett was an American actress and producer who worked in film, radio, theater, and television. Born in New York City, she came from an acting family and was the first of her sisters to enter motion pictures. After appearing in silent films made in New York, she made her Hollywood debut in Cytherea (1924) following a meeting with Samuel Goldwyn. She resumed her film career at the advent of talking pictures and often played society women, first in melodramas and later in comedies. Films for which she was best remembered included What Price Hollywood? (1932), Topper (1937) and its sequel Topper Takes a Trip (1938), and Two-Faced Woman (1941); she later appeared in The Unsuspected (1947), As Young as You Feel (1951), and It Should Happen to You (1954). She hosted her own ABC radio program, toured in Auntie Mame, and made her final screen appearance in Madame X (1966).
