Kenneth MacKenna
Biography
Kenneth MacKenna was an American actor and film director. Born in Canterbury in 1899, he worked in bonds and stocks before William Brady discovered him and gave him a role in At 9:45. He made his Broadway debut in Opportunity in 1920 and also worked as a director and producer for the Theater Guild. From 1931 he directed several Hollywood films, including Always Goodbye and The Spider, then returned to Broadway in the mid-1930s. He later worked for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a story editor in New York and then became a department head in Hollywood. In the late 1950s he resumed acting on stage and screen. His film roles include Gaylord Stanton in Sin Takes a Holiday (1930), President Byrne of Pinehurst in High Time (1960), and Judge Kenneth Norris in Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), released less than a month before his death in 1962. He also appeared on television in Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
