Plot summary
When Corby Lane was a young child traveling with her impoverished father, she fell seriously ill, and the residents of the hamlet of Progress, Arkansas, collected the money for the medical treatment that saved her life. She returns now as a wealthy heiress, meaning to reward the townspeople with money and lavish gifts given anonymously. The local doctor, Robert Sellers, is an easygoing man who likes to fish and takes the town at its own pace, and he foresees the chaos her giving will bring. Corby is a headstrong woman, and she and the doctor clash even though she falls in love with him.
