Plot summary
Rachel is an appraiser in New York whose top client wants the land under a small California town's library for a resort and spa. She argues against the trip and loses, so she flies out to look the place over. On her first visit she meets Jake, a writer who is in town researching Captain Black Bart's hidden treasures for a novel. The town librarian asks Jake to show Rachel what the building means to the community. Jake already has his hands full with that research and with his niece Hailey and nephew Noah, who are with him for the summer, but he agrees. As Rachel gets to know the town, she looks for a way to keep the library open.
