Plot summary
Wills, a former police officer, and Bobby, a psychic, open the Second Sight Detective Agency and take cases around Boston, where Bobby's visions assist their investigations. Sister Elizabeth, a nun, brings them a stolen car to look into. The matter grows into a search of the city's streets for a missing person reported kidnapped: Cardinal O'Hara, a churchman spoken of as a possible next pope. Bobby's clairvoyance turns erratic and difficult to control as the three of them work the case.

- Bronson Pinchot collapsed in the middle of one of his psychic research sessions; doctors blamed exhaustion, but the film's psychic technical advisor believed it was a reaction to long exposure to extra-sensory perception and hypnosis.
- Bronson Pinchot's psychic character wears slippers throughout Second Sight because the real psychic Peter Hurkos, whom Pinchot met while researching, turned up to lunch in sandals after forgetting to put on his shoes.
- A scene where Bronson Pinchot's psychic squirms as if he needs the bathroom was inspired by a psychic Pinchot met who would get drunk whenever she was near somebody who was drunk at a party.
