Plot summary
Nellie Robinson is 34 and single, and her weekends go to her friends' weddings and baby showers. At one wedding she runs into Monroe, who confides that conceiving at 40 has been difficult. A visit to her gynecologist reveals that Nellie has diminished ovarian reserve. Nellie is not sure she wants to be a mother, but she decides to freeze her eggs to keep the option open. The procedure costs $14,000. Her attempts to raise the money fall short, and her brother Jesse reluctantly lends her the sum. She begins a regimen of daily injections to prepare for the retrieval.
