Plot summary
Alejo Otero, Fred's pen pal, asks Fred and the others to come to Veracruz, Mexico. The Otero family runs a hotel there, and a creature the townspeople call El Chupacabra has been driving guests away. The visitors stay at the hotel and meet Alejo's wife Sofia, his son Jorge, his mother Doña Dolores, his brother Luis and Luis's fiancée Charlene. At dinner, Diego Fuente, who was in business with Alejo and Luis's late father, offers to buy the hotel. The family refuses. Fred takes the case and leads the search for the creature.
