Plot summary
High school teacher Aaron Harris drives six students to an abandoned cornfield to collect a scarecrow for the town's hundredth Scarecrow Festival. On the way, Nikki and Tyler tell the others about the legend attached to the land, which grew out of the deaths of thirty people who once lived there, and Tyler chants the lines that belong to it. Aaron meets Kristen Miller, his ex-girlfriend, and Eddie, his former best friend, who came to help and then cannot restart his truck. Nikki slips the bus keys out of the ignition to get back her phone. Out by the scarecrow, Beth is seized and dragged into the corn.
