Plot summary
Indochina in 1959 is a lawless land held by Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals, among them Hans Steiner and his henchman Rastignac. Den-Dhin-Chan Labor Camp, the worst prison in the country, is run by four such men. Martin Tillman, an Irish former champion boxer and a onetime IRA soldier, is an inmate at the camp, forced to take part in bare-knuckle bouts staged for the entertainment of the criminal overlords who wager on the results. His release from the camp is due and he wants only to go home, but the men who run the jail intend to keep him there.
