Plot summary

Reginald Barnes serves four tours of duty and is a decorated staff sergeant. A soldier he commanded goes rogue, and Barnes is dishonorably discharged. Disenfranchised by the government he served with honor, he is alone and trying to piece his life back together when Congressman Dakota Ambrose, a charismatic and ambitious politician, recruits him and gives his life a new purpose. Ambrose has a covert military operation meant to eliminate an underground criminal element on American soil, and Barnes joins it. The work moves between covert action on American soil and unsanctioned retribution, and an FBI special agent tracks the two men as the mission unfolds.
