Vince McMahon

Biography

Vince McMahon is an American promoter and businessman who expanded his family's wrestling company into a national promotion. Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina to a wrestling promoter father, he studied business at East Carolina University and graduated in 1968, then became a commentator for the World Wide Wrestling Federation in the 1970s. He took over the company in 1982 and pushed beyond regional territories, signing Hulk Hogan and launching WrestleMania, which grew into wrestling's biggest event. In 1997 he introduced his Mr. McMahon persona, a tyrannical on-screen boss who feuded with Stone Cold Steve Austin. He also wrestled occasionally, winning the WWE and ECW championships and a Royal Rumble. Beyond wrestling, he promoted the World Bodybuilding Federation and the XFL, and he produced No Holds Barred (1989) before starting WWE Studios in 2002.
