About the name
For a persona built around a bleach blond from California who was a bully-ish beach bodybuilder, Ventura invented the stage name Jesse "The Body" Ventura, taking "Ventura" off a map.
A change of course
In the late 1970s and 1980s, Ventura worked as a bodyguard for The Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger, the band's lead singer, said of him, "He's done us proud, hasn't he? He's been fantastic."
A change of course
Ventura brought his wrestling persona, a heel, into his commentary work. He favored the villains, which was new and different at the time.
