Biography
Tim Kazurinsky is an American actor, comedian and screenwriter known for Saturday Night Live and the Police Academy films. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he moved to Chicago and joined The Second City's mainstage troupe in 1978 under Del Close. John Belushi recommended him to Dick Ebersol, and in 1981 he was hired as a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live. He performed original characters and celebrity impressions and was part of the show's 1984 Primetime Emmy-nominated writing team. After leaving in 1984, he co-wrote About Last Night... (1986), based on David Mamet's play, and played Officer Carl Sweetchuck in Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985), Police Academy 3: Back in Training (1986) and Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987). Later work included writing for Curb Your Enthusiasm and According to Jim, a Writers Guild and BAFTA-nominated screenplay for Strange Relations, and stage appearances in Wicked and An Act of God.

A change of course
Kazurinsky was working in advertising at Leo Burnett when he enrolled in a Second City improv class to build confidence for presenting pitches, and by 1978 he was in the mainstage troupe.
Big break
John Belushi, a Saturday Night Live luminary, recommended Kazurinsky to Dick Ebersol, the show's executive producer at the time. Ebersol was impressed and brought Kazurinsky aboard in 1981 as a writer and cast member.
Behind the camera
After he left SNL, Kazurinsky helped write About Last Night..., which came from David Mamet's one act play Sexual Perversity in Chicago. Edward Zwick directed the film, and Rob Lowe, Demi Moore and Jim Belushi starred.

Kazurinsky wrote the screenplay for Strange Relations, a 2001 film with Paul Reiser, George Wendt, Julie Walters and Olympia Dukakis. It earned him nominations for both a Writers Guild of America Award and a BAFTA.
A first
Kazurinsky made his Broadway debut in 2015 in David Javerbaum's comedy An Act Of God, directed by Joe Mantello, alongside Jim Parsons and Christopher Fitzgerald at Studio 54.
