Thomas Gibson
Biography
Thomas Gibson is an American actor and director who became known to television audiences as Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds, Greg Montgomery on Dharma & Greg, and Daniel Nyland on Chicago Hope. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he began acting at nine in children's theater. After training at the Juilliard School, he spent a decade working on and off Broadway. His film debut came in Ron Howard's Far and Away (1992), and he went on to appear in Love and Human Remains (1993), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), and Stardom (2000). On television, he starred in Chicago Hope from 1994 to 1998 and in Dharma & Greg from 1997 to 2002, receiving two Golden Globe nominations, and he directed two episodes of the latter. He later played Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds from 2005 to 2016. In 2025 he appeared in the play Henry Johnson in Chicago.
