Stephen Marcus
Biography
Stephen Marcus is a British actor who trained for three years at ArtsEd Performing Arts School in Chiswick before becoming an actor in 1984. He began by touring London parks and schools in Robin Hood & The Tree Trick, then took his first film role, as Moose in My Beautiful Laundrette (1985). He played Dave in the comedy Birds of a Feather from 1989 to 1991, and a spell in commercials led director Peter Chelsom to cast him in Hear My Song (1991). His best known part came when Guy Ritchie gave him the role of Nick the Greek in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). Other credits include Quills (2000), Kinky Boots (2005), Hogfather (2006), Interview with a Hitman (2012), Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pat Tate Story (2017) and The Big Ugly (2020), as well as television work in Starhunter 2300, Cavegirl and Lark Rise to Candleford.

Big break
In 1996, Marcus's agent arranged a meeting with Guy Ritchie, then an unknown director, about a small low-budget movie. Ritchie offered Marcus the role of Nick the Greek in the British gangster comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Marcus trained for three years at ArtsEd Performing Arts School in Chiswick, London Borough of Hounslow, and started acting in 1984.
Big break
Peter Chelsom, a director, met Marcus while he was doing commercials for a year. Chelsom then gave him the part of Gordon in Hear My Song, a 1991 film in which Ned Beatty also appeared.
A change of course
The same year he was cast in Welcome to Curiosity, Marcus started a Gangster London walking tour with Brit Movie Tours, where he looks into the dark history of London's East End.
