Plot summary
Viktor grows up in a slum on the outskirts of Bucharest, owing money to two neighborhood bullies while a local mafia pressures his father, and he joins the mob to protect himself. Sergei, a mafia lieutenant, takes him in once he proves himself, moves him to the city and trains him in preparation, eavesdropping, infiltration and killing. Viktor works with Sergei into adulthood on assignments for the boss Traffikant, whose son Franco is also in the business. He agrees to tell his story to a filmmaker whose career has collapsed and who needs a subject to rebuild it, describing how a boy from the slums became a professional assassin.
