Biography

Seth MacFarlane is an American animator, filmmaker, actor and singer best known as the creator and star of the animated series Family Guy and of the science fiction series The Orville, and as co-creator of American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. Born in Kent, Connecticut, he studied animation at the Rhode Island School of Design and was hired by Hanna-Barbera, where he wrote and drew for Dexter's Laboratory, Cow and Chicken and Johnny Bravo. He made his live-action directing debut with Ted (2012), which he also wrote, produced and headlined, then made Ted 2 (2015) and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014). His voice work includes Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008), Tooth Fairy (2010) and Sing (2016), and he appeared in Logan Lucky (2017). He hosted the 85th Academy Awards in 2013, has won five Primetime Emmy Awards and has released ten studio albums.

    MacFarlane put out his ninth album in June 2025, Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements. John Wilson conducted it, and the music, arranged by Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Don Costa for Frank Sinatra, went unproduced until MacFarlane found it in Sinatra's library.
