Biography
Pauly Shore, an American comedian and actor, became known for leading roles in 1990s comedies. He was born in 1968 and grew up in Beverly Hills, where his parents worked in comedy, and he made his stand-up debut at 17. From 1989 to 1994 he was an on-air VJ for MTV, hosting his own show, Totally Pauly, and the channel's spring break parties. His first starring film part came in Encino Man (1992), a modest hit that opened the way for Son in Law (1993), In the Army Now (1994), Jury Duty (1995) and Bio-Dome (1996). He voiced Bobby Zimuruski in A Goofy Movie (1995) and its sequel, An Extremely Goofy Movie (2000), and produced, wrote, directed and starred in the mockumentary Pauly Shore Is Dead (2003). The Golden Raspberry Awards gave him Worst New Star for Encino Man and Worst Actor for Bio-Dome.

Big break
Shore's big break was as an MTV VJ on air, a job he kept from 1989 to 1994. At the peak of his MTV fame, he had his own show, Totally Pauly, and hosted the channel's yearly Spring Break parties.
About the name
Shore developed a persona known as "The Weasel" while he was on the comedy club circuit. It featured surfer talk full of dudespeak slang and his catchphrase, "Hey, BU-DDY."

For his work in Encino Man, the Golden Raspberry Awards handed Shore its Worst New Star of the Year honor, and for Bio-Dome he received Worst Actor of the Year. The group also named him Worst New Star of the 1990s.
