Paul Hogan
Biography
Paul Hogan is an Australian actor and comedian who was born in Sydney in 1939 and grew up in Granville in Western Sydney. He first appeared on the Nine Network talent program New Faces in 1971, then wrote, produced and starred in The Paul Hogan Show, a sketch comedy series that aired for 60 episodes from 1973 to 1984 and earned him a 1973 Logie Award from TV Week for Best New Talent. His breakout was Mick Dundee in Crocodile Dundee (1986), which he co-wrote and which won him a 1987 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and a BAFTA nomination. Its screenplay earned an Academy Award nomination. He played Mick in Crocodile Dundee II (1988) and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001). Later films include Lightning Jack (1994), Flipper (1996), Strange Bedfellows (2004), Charlie & Boots (2009) and The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee (2020). In 2016 he received the Longford Lyell Award.
