Plot summary
Gracie, Charlie's wife and the mother of his son Boots, has died. Boots drives to the family farm and finds his father shut inside, the curtains closed. A calendar photograph of Cape York brings back a promise Charlie once made about a fishing trip at the country's northern tip. Charlie does not recall it, but Boots decides the trip will happen. The two leave regional Victoria in a Holden Kingswood, bound for the Cape York Peninsula, tense with each other as they go.
